AI Dominates Discussions at UN General Assembly

New York:More than 60% of world leaders referenced artificial intelligence during their high-level addresses at the 81st UN General Assembly, an official revealed on Tuesday.

According to Anadolu Agency, Melissa Summer, spokesperson for the president of the General Assembly, stated that over 60% of speakers mentioned AI in their speeches, based on preliminary numbers.

An analysis tracking the general debate's addresses noted AI references across 122 countries. This reflects growing international attention on issues like technological development, containment safeguards, and autonomous systems.

Summer also reported that nearly three-quarters of participants discussed climate challenges. Additionally, women made up about 14% of the speakers, a slight increase from 12% in 2025, though Summer warned that these representation gains are "not nearly fast enough."
