Ankara:OpenAI unveiled an always-on artificial intelligence assistant named Dots, along with a $500 monthly ChatGPT plan, as it expands its services from merely responding to user inquiries to performing tasks on their behalf.
According to Anadolu Agency, Dots was introduced at the company's developer conference and operates on the GPT-6 Astra model. It features its own cloud computer and browser, can connect to over 4,000 apps, and works continuously towards user goals while learning from feedback.
Users can interact with their dot via ChatGPT on desktop, web, and mobile, or through platforms like Slack and Microsoft Teams, with text messaging to be added later. The assistant can report progress, ask questions, and maintain context across different channels.
CEO Sam Altman described it as an AI helper that's always supportive, emphasizing the customizable user controls that allow users to manage the responsibilities of their dot.
OpenAI provided examples of Dots' capabilities, such as monitoring customer feedback, preparing software fixes, and updating research figures. It is initially available to Pro and Business Premium subscribers, with a beta version for enterprise customers in sectors like education and healthcare. Users receive one dot initially, with plans for additional support in the future.
Users can decide which apps a dot can access and set rules for its actions. Dots' background research utilizes read-only access, allowing users to review its activities. Specialized Dots for tasks like procurement and customer support are also being tested.
The new Pro 500 plan offers the highest usage allowance, with features like Ultrafast processing for GPT-6 Astra, generating outputs up to eight times faster. OpenAI also launched GPT-6.1 Sol, which achieves similar performance to Astra at a fraction of the cost, and ChatGPT Space for collaborative work with ChatGPT and Dots.
