Karmod Produces Custom Buildings for COP31 in Antalya

Antalya:Turkish modular building manufacturer Karmod has produced custom container buildings for the UN climate conference COP31, set to take place in Antalya, T¼rkiye in November.

According to Anadolu Agency, these specially designed structures, created with a hybrid construction system, will function as rest areas for participants attending the summit in the Mediterranean resort city.

Ensar Cankaya, General Manager of Karmod Container, stated that the buildings align with the summit's sustainability objectives, utilizing environmentally friendly production methods and a zero-waste approach. He highlighted the growing use of container structures for various purposes beyond their traditional role in construction sites, noting their suitability for housing and office spaces due to their structural safety, modern design compatibility, and eco-friendly production.

Cankaya explained that the units for COP31 feature a unique hybrid design developed specifically for the event. The wall panels have been reinforced with steel frames to enhance structural performance, and insulation has been upgraded to the highest standards. The on-site installation of the seven blocks, each covering 300 square meters, is nearly complete. These buildings, which will serve as lounges for international participants, include amenities such as accessible restrooms. Designed as demountable structures, they will be reused at different locations after the summit.
