Al-Mazroub:North Kordofan The Sudanese army has taken full control of Al-Mazroub in North Kordofan state following battles with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), as reported by a military spokesman.
According to Anadolu Agency, Mohamed Deidan, a spokesman for the army's special forces, confirmed the capture and emphasized its significance in disrupting the RSF's supply lines. Al-Mazroub serves as a strategic link between North Kordofan and West Kordofan states, and this advance marks a critical turning point in the ongoing conflict in the Kordofan region.
The town of Al-Mazroub is located in northwestern North Kordofan, approximately 90 kilometers west of Bara. The local Dar Hamar Emergency Response Room also confirmed the army's capture of the town. Azzam Hamed, a spokesman for the group, stated that this development paves the way for the army's entry into West Kordofan state.
Videos posted by army personnel on social media showcased their control over the town. Earlier, on September 26, the army announced the capture of the Um Sharo area in North Kordofan, following the takeover of Sodari, where they claimed to have inflicted significant losses on the RSF. The army has recently reported substantial advances across North Kordofan, securing 11 areas in the state.
Since October 25 of the previous year, the regions of North, West, and South Kordofan have experienced ongoing clashes between the army and the RSF. The broader conflict in Sudan, which erupted between the army and the RSF in April 2023, has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands and the displacement of approximately 13 million people, according to estimates from the UN and international organizations.
