Sanaa:The Yemeni army carried out airstrikes on 'vital military targets' in the Houthi-controlled capital Sanaa and successfully repelled Houthi assaults in the southwestern Taiz province on Saturday.
According to Anadolu Agency, military spokesman Majed al-Nuzaili stated on the US social media platform X that the armed forces targeted legitimate military sites in Sanaa. However, no further details about the targets or the outcomes of the operation were provided.
In a separate announcement, the Taiz Military Axis reported that Yemeni forces had thwarted Houthi attacks on Jabal Han, Hadhran, and the western fronts of Taiz city after several hours of intense fighting. This resulted in dozens of Houthi fighters being killed or injured, though the army did not disclose its own casualties or any subsequent developments.
The Houthi-run Al-Masirah television channel earlier attributed a series of airstrikes on Sanaa to Saudi Arabia, also claiming that Saudi aircraft targeted a communications network in Saqin district, northern Saada province. There was no immediate comment from Saudi Arabia or the coalition supporting Yemen's government regarding these claims.
Additionally, Saudi Civil Defense reported that debris from an intercepted Houthi ballistic missile injured a person of Asian nationality in Ahad Rufaydah, located in Saudi Arabia's southern Asir region. Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia has led a military coalition backing Yemen's internationally recognized government against Houthi forces, who have held control of Sanaa and several other areas since September 2014.
