Sudanese Army Claims Major Victory Against RSF in Blue Nile State

Damazin:Sudan's military has announced a significant victory against the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and their allies in Blue Nile state, stating they inflicted heavy losses in both personnel and equipment.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Sudanese army's Fourth Infantry Division released a statement detailing that their troops, along with supporting forces, successfully targeted RSF and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) in the regions of Minza and Bashkarkad. The operation reportedly caused significant casualties and damage to equipment, effectively disrupting the movements of the RSF and their allies and thwarting their advances toward army positions.

The army claimed that several vehicles and pieces of equipment were destroyed, and the attacking fighters were forced to retreat under fire. However, no specific casualty figures were provided. The RSF has not yet commented on these claims.

In related developments earlier on Saturday, Sudanese authorities reported that RSF drones targeted the home of the Blue Nile governor and several civilian sites in Damazin, the state capital. The southeastern state of Blue Nile has seen increased military activity recently, with attacks by the RSF and SPLM-N on various areas.

The ongoing conflict in Sudan, which began in April 2023 due to disagreements over the integration of the RSF into the national military, has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and displaced approximately 13 million people, as per UN and international estimates.
