Accra:The Yemeni army announced that 260 Houthi fighters were killed in 97 operations targeting military reinforcements in the Taiz and Lahj provinces. According to Anadolu Agency, the operations involved the use of warplanes, drones, artillery, missiles, and snipers. Military spokesman Col. Majed al-Nuzaili reported that 44 military and transport vehicles, as well as supply assets, were either destroyed or damaged during these operations. This announcement follows a previous report from the army stating that at least 700 Houthi fighters had been killed in 257 operations across various fronts. The Houthis have not commented on these claims by the Yemeni army. Yemen's ongoing conflict began when the Houthis seized the capital, Sanaa, and other provinces in 2014, leading to a Saudi-led coalition intervention in 2015 in support of the internationally recognized government. A truce in 2022 collapsed in July, resulting in escalated fighting.
