Russia and Ukraine Exchange Strikes as Civilian Cargo Ship Hit

Kyiv:Russia and Ukraine engaged in a series of overnight strikes, resulting in one death and at least nine injuries. In Hostomel, a town northwest of Kyiv, four people were injured in a drone attack by Russian forces, as reported by Kyiv regional military administration head Timur Tkachenko.

According to Anadolu Agency, The Pivnichnyi Bridge in Kyiv was also targeted, marking the third consecutive day of assaults on key bridges in the capital. This attack injured two people and disrupted cross-bridge traffic from the Left Bank to the Right Bank. The bridge's surface and overhead trolleybus lines sustained damage, according to Kyiv's Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

In the Odesa region, a Russian strike on a "civilian cargo ship" flying the Liberian flag resulted in one fatality and three injuries. The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority confirmed that 13 crew members were safely evacuated from the vessel.

Ukraine's Air Defense reported that 131 Russian drones were shot down or suppressed during the overnight assaults. Russia's Defense Ministry acknowledged the attacks, stating its forces targeted Ukrainian infrastructure and a maritime vessel allegedly supporting Ukrainian armed forces. They confirmed strikes on the Pivnichnyi road bridge in Kyiv, a logistics center in Hostomel, and a dry cargo ship carrying dual-use goods to Odesa.

In Russia's Kaluga region, a Ukrainian attack caused minor injuries to several people and damaged apartment buildings and private homes, according to Governor Vladislav Shapsha. Additionally, Russia's Defense Ministry reported intercepting 218 Ukrainian drones over various Russian regions, Crimea, the Black Sea, and the Sea of Azov.
