Kyiv:Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov announced that Russia is executing retaliatory strikes against Ukraine in response to what it claims are Ukrainian attacks on Russia's civilian economy. Peskov emphasized that Ukraine will pay a price for its actions.
According to Anadolu Agency, He also stated that the Russian military operations are ongoing, despite some foreign diplomatic missions opting to remain in Kyiv. Peskov noted that the decision to stay or leave rests with the countries maintaining these missions, as the Russian military continues its work.
The Russian Foreign Ministry had previously advised foreign citizens and diplomats to leave Kyiv and avoid traveling to Ukraine, urging residents to stay away from military and administrative facilities. The ministry declared that Moscow would persist with strikes on military targets in Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, citing Ukrainian forces' alleged terrorist actions against Russian civilians and infrastructure.
When questioned about a New York Times report concerning a possible sale of Lukoil's foreign assets as part of US-Russia negotiations on a settlement in Ukraine, Peskov chose not to comment on the specifics. However, he acknowledged that discussions about potential energy sector cooperation with the United States do occur.
Regarding reports of Estonia allegedly moving troops closer to the Russian border, Peskov assured that Russia's Defense Ministry and other agencies have the necessary intelligence capabilities to monitor and evaluate the situation along the border effectively.
