Brighton:Israel decided to bar the leader of the Green Party of England and Wales, Zack Polanski, from entering the country after the party adopted a policy labeling Zionism as a form of racism. This decision was made by Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar in coordination with relevant Israeli authorities.
According to Anadolu Agency, Green Party members approved the motion at their conference in Brighton, making opposition to Zionism an official policy. The motion describes Zionism as a racist ideology and supports the establishment of a single democratic Palestinian state with equal rights for all.
Israel's Foreign Ministry accused the Green Party of legitimizing armed resistance against Israel and denying Jewish self-determination, asserting that the policy equates to antisemitism under the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition. The ministry also accused the Greens of becoming 'supporters of terrorism' and urged British political parties, including the governing Labour Party, to reject the motion.
The Green Party has rejected any association of anti-Zionism with antisemitism, describing Zionism as an ethnonationalist political project. The party reaffirmed its support for Palestinian self-determination, the right of return, and a full arms embargo on Israel.
