Mecca Defense Alliance to Implement Collective Defense Measures Immediately

Riyadh:Trkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan have agreed to promptly put into action their collective defense commitments, ensuring the swift deployment of military forces and capabilities to Saudi Arabia. This decision was made during an emergency meeting of the Mecca Alliance's Strategic Political and Defense Committee held in Riyadh to address current security concerns and threats facing the kingdom.

According to Anadolu Agency, the joint statement issued by the three member states emphasized their collective decision to begin the practical implementation of defense commitments. The countries also agreed to take necessary steps to provide the required military forces and capabilities, ensuring their rapid deployment in Saudi Arabia in accordance with national legislation and approved arrangements.

The statement further condemned attempts to target the holy cities of Mecca and Medina, as well as ongoing attacks on other Saudi cities and civilian and economic facilities. The three nations expressed their unequivocal rejection of any threats to Saudi Arabia's security or territorial integrity.

Additionally, the committee appointed retired Pakistani Lieutenant General Nauman Mahmood as the alliance's first secretary-general, with a term of three years. The member states expressed confidence in Mahmood's ability to advance the alliance's objectives.

Pakistan and Trkiye commended the Saudi Armed Forces for their vigilance and professionalism in countering threats and attacks, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the kingdom's security and territorial integrity. The Mecca Alliance's formation on August 7 reflects a firm commitment to collective defense and a unified stance against threats, as the parties affirmed that each nation's security is integral to the collective security of the group.

The Mecca Defense Alliance aims to demonstrate the credibility of their collective defense commitment, strengthen deterrence, and reaffirm the unity and determination of the three countries to defend their sovereignty and territorial integrity.
