Israeli Opposition Criticizes Government’s Response to FlyDubai Incident

Tabuk:Israeli opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government, stating it had 'learned nothing at all' from the October 7 attacks by Hamas. He accused the government of avoiding responsibility following the FlyDubai incident.

According to Anadolu Agency, Eisenkot, the leader of the opposition Yashar Party, expressed his views on the US social media platform X. He stated that those who avoid investigations and responsibility cannot prevent future disasters. He also suggested that Transport Minister Miri Regev should have resigned over the incident and that Netanyahu should have dismissed her if she did not step down.

Eisenkot further urged Israelis to participate in the October 27 general election, promising to deliver 'worthy and responsible leadership' within a month.

Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett also criticized Netanyahu, describing the incident as a 'terrible and shocking failure' and connecting it to the failures related to the October 7 events.

The criticism came after Wednesday's incident with FlyDubai flight FZ1073, which was diverted to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, following a cockpit altercation. United Arab Emirates authorities reported that the co-pilot attacked the captain with a crash axe and attempted to seize control of the aircraft. The plane landed safely, and investigations into the incident's circumstances and motive are ongoing.
