AS Monaco Basket Suspends Operations After Filing for Bankruptcy

Ankara:AS Monaco Basket announced on Wednesday the suspension of their operations as they have filed for bankruptcy, abruptly ending one of European basketball's notable recent projects.

According to Anadolu Agency, the club conveyed in a statement that despite their efforts, they have had to file for bankruptcy. They expressed a desire to eventually find a way to restructure and relaunch the project.

AS Monaco Basket had become a significant force in European basketball over the past five years, having competed in the EuroLeague for five consecutive seasons. The team reached the EuroLeague Final Four for the first time in 2023 and returned in 2025, progressing to the championship game.

The club's success in Europe began with their 2021 EuroCup title, Monaco's first European title in a team sport, which secured their spot in the EuroLeague. Over the last 12 years, they also claimed three French league titles, four Leaders Cups, two French Cups, and one Super Cup. They concluded the 2025-26 season by winning all four major French trophies.

The future of men's basketball in Monaco will now be overseen by the ASM Association, which includes youth teams and a senior team competing in France's Nationale 3 division. The club expressed their ultimate goal of seeing Monaco reclaim its place at the top level of professional basketball.
