Syria Reports Sabotage Attack on Oil Pipeline in Hasakah

Hasakah:An oil pipeline in Syria's northeastern Hasakah province was damaged in what authorities are calling a 'sabotage attack,' and those responsible have been arrested, according to the Syrian Petroleum Company.

According to Anadolu Agency, the oil pipeline near the Tal Hamis area was targeted, resulting in damage. State-run Alikhbariah TV quoted the company as saying the damage was caused by sabotage.

Maintenance and emergency teams were sent to the location to secure the site, isolate the damaged section, and initiate repairs to restore the pipeline's service as quickly as possible. Authorities have identified and arrested the perpetrators, who are now facing legal proceedings.

The company did not reveal how many individuals were arrested, their motives, the extent of the damage, or the volume of oil spilled. This incident follows a previous attack a month ago on a pipeline along the Tal Hamis-Abu Ghadir road, which was also sabotaged in an attempt to steal crude oil.

In August, a gas export pipeline from the Jbessa gas plant in rural Hasakah was deliberately sabotaged, causing temporary supply disruptions until repairs began. The importance of oil infrastructure in Hasakah has increased due to the resumption of crude supplies from the province's fields.

In March, the company announced it had begun receiving oil from the Rmelan, Suwaydiyah, and other fields to support refining and production for the domestic market. Additionally, work is underway to rehabilitate a 560-kilometer (348-mile) heavy oil pipeline linking the Rmelan oil fields to the central province of Homs to transport crude to refineries.
