Pedro Retires from Professional Football at Age 39

Barcelona:Former Barcelona and Chelsea winger Pedro has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 39, concluding a career that spanned over two decades.

According to Anadolu Agency, Pedro shared the news of his retirement on the US social media platform Instagram, expressing that it was time to start a new chapter in his life. He expressed pride in having lived his dream and thanked those who supported him, as well as the sport itself for bringing him happiness.

Pedro's career began at Barcelona's La Masia academy in 2004. He quickly rose through the ranks to join the first team, contributing to one of the most successful eras in the club's history. He was instrumental in winning three UEFA Champions League titles in 2009, 2011, and 2015, notably scoring the opening goal in the 2011 final against Manchester United, which ended in a 3-1 victory for Barcelona.

After seven seasons with Barcelona, Pedro moved to Chelsea in 2015. During his five years in England, he played a key role in helping Chelsea secure the Premier League, FA Cup, and UEFA Europa League titles.

In 2020, Pedro transitioned to Italian football, initially joining Roma before transferring to their city rivals Lazio in 2021. He concluded his tenure at Lazio following the 2025-26 season as the club's joint-leading scorer, with five goals in all competitions.

On the international stage, Pedro earned 65 caps and scored 17 goals for the Spanish national team. He was part of the squad that won the 2010 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2012.
