Paris:France The country is set for widespread protests against the rising cost of living on Saturday, with authorities expecting 200 to 300 demonstrations nationwide.
According to Anadolu Agency, significant gatherings are anticipated in major cities, as well as at roundabouts, gas stations, and supermarkets. Prominent figures from the Yellow Vest movement, including Jerome Rodrigues, Priscillia Ludosky, and Maxime Nicolle, have encouraged the public to participate.
The protests aim to address demands for reduced fuel costs, opposition to frozen benefits and public-sector salaries under the proposed budget, and measures to manage the overall increase in living expenses. The CGT trade union, the France Unbowed party, and the French Communist Party are also supporting the mobilization.
Authorities are preparing for potential disturbances in Paris and other major cities. The Interior Ministry has warned of possible clashes involving violent groups, prompting police to impose partial restrictions on some demonstration routes in the capital. In Paris, alternative routes for two planned demonstrations have been suggested due to concerns about public order and the risk of violence.
