Putin Asserts Russia’s Response to Ukrainian Attacks on Infrastructure

Moscow:Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that Russia is responding to Ukrainian attacks on its energy infrastructure and e-commerce platforms. During a video conference at the Business Russia forum, Putin accused Ukraine of attempting to garner Western support to pressure Moscow into halting its retaliatory actions.

According to Anadolu Agency, Putin claimed that Ukraine initiated the attacks, prompting Russia's response. He mentioned that Ukraine should have considered the consequences before targeting Russian facilities, including energy infrastructure and data centers. Despite some damage to oil refineries, he noted it was not significant.

On Wednesday, Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak reported that Ukrainian forces targeted oil refineries in the Saratov and Ryazan regions. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov criticized Ukraine's actions, stating they contradicted US peace initiatives.

In a related development, former US President Donald Trump announced that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to cease attacks on each other's energy infrastructure. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed Kyiv's willingness to halt strikes on Russian facilities if Russia reciprocated, emphasizing that any de-escalation must be mutual and guaranteed.

Meanwhile, Peskov confirmed that discussions with the US about the proposed energy truce are ongoing.
