Istanbul:Romelu Lukaku scored his first goal for Fenerbahce as the Istanbul club secured a 3-0 home victory over Alanyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig. The match saw substitutes Kerem Akturkoglu and Vedat Muriqi also adding to the scoreline.
According to Anadolu Agency – English, Fenerbahce was awarded an early penalty when Levent Mercan was fouled by Fatih Aksoy inside the box in the 16th minute. Mason Greenwood's spot kick was saved by goalkeeper Paulo Victor, and although Irfan Can Kahveci scored from the rebound, the goal was disallowed following a VAR review because he entered the penalty area too early.
Lukaku opened the scoring in the 40th minute with a first-time finish from close range, connecting with Mercan's low cross. Fenerbahce had two more goals by Kahveci disallowed shortly after the break, as VAR spotted a foul by N'Golo Kante in the buildup for the first and ruled the second offside.
Akturkoglu, who replaced Greenwood, doubled the lead around the 70th minute with a low shot into the bottom-left corner. Muriqi completed the scoring in the 87th minute, finishing from close range after Akturkoglu redirected Archie Brown's low cross.
The victory lifted Fenerbahce to 16 points from eight matches, while Alanyaspor remained on 12. Fenerbahce will next host Slavia Prague in the UEFA Champions League before visiting archrivals Galatasaray in the Super Lig derby.
