OpenAI Signs Four AI Deployment Deals in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi:OpenAI has entered into four agreements with entities based in Abu Dhabi aimed at implementing artificial intelligence across various sectors, including the emirate's oil industry, government services, and investment activities, as reported by the Abu Dhabi Media Office.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was present at the signing ceremony, which took place after his meeting with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.

One key agreement involves the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), which will collaborate with OpenAI and the AI and cloud computing holding company G42. Under this multi-year agreement, ADNOC plans to utilize AI to create oilfield development plans and evaluate the impact of production decisions on refining, sales, and trading. G42's contribution will be through its subsidiary, Inception42.

ADNOC has highlighted that the new technology will integrate decades of data from thousands of wells, as well as information on facilities and costs. This innovation aims to significantly reduce the time required to prepare field development plans from months to mere hours, with models running on G42's infrastructure in the UAE.

In another initiative, the Abu Dhabi government, in collaboration with OpenAI, is piloting a project to convert policies and regulations into AI-readable formats. The first pilot is operational at the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, where it assists officials in checking food imports against regulatory standards, enabling traceability of assessments to specific rules while maintaining official accountability for final decisions.

Additionally, Abu Dhabi's sovereign investor Mubadala has signed an agreement with Inception42 and OpenAI to analyze investments, identify potential opportunities, and assess associated risks.

The fourth agreement is a five-year partnership between Inception42 and OpenAI, focused on aiding government agencies, businesses, and educational institutions across the UAE in adopting advanced AI models.
