Russia and Ukraine Exchange Accusations Amid Devastating Airstrikes

Kharkiv:At least two individuals have been killed and more than 90 injured as Russia and Ukraine accused each other of launching overnight airstrikes on Tuesday.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, in Ukraine, Kharkiv Governor Oleh Synyehubov reported on Telegram that 64 people were injured following a Russian strike on a medical facility in the Nemyshlianskyi district. The attack damaged a building housing a medical department, along with the windows of four high-rise residential buildings and 10 passenger cars. The facility's 226 patients are being evacuated to other medical centers.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy updated the number of injured to 73, noting that energy infrastructure, including power generation facilities and substations, was the main target. He remarked on the timing coinciding with U.S. congressional elections and emphasized the need for global attention to stop such actions.

Meanwhile, Dnipropetrovsk Governor Oleksandr Hanzha confirmed two fatalities and 20 injuries in Dnipro due to morning strikes, with search and rescue efforts concluded. In Odesa, Governor Oleh Kiper reported damage to energy and civilian infrastructure, leading to power disruptions, though no casualties were noted.

Zhytomyr Governor Vitaliy Bunechko stated that attacks on energy facilities left approximately 130 settlements and over 180,000 subscribers without electricity. The Ukrainian Air Force claimed success in intercepting numerous Russian projectiles overnight, including three ballistic missiles, nearly 50 cruise missiles, and 257 out of 289 drones.

Conversely, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that its strikes targeted energy infrastructures in Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kharkiv, purportedly affecting military-industrial enterprises and the Ukrainian army. It also reported hits on port infrastructure in Odesa and vessels at the port of Pivdennyi.

In Russia, Yaroslavl Governor Mikhail Yevrayev reported that two workers were injured after drones targeted an oil refinery. Yevrayev claimed that 124 drones were intercepted, with debris causing damage to buildings and vehicles.

The ongoing conflict makes independent verification of these claims challenging. Both nations deny intentionally targeting civilian infrastructure, insisting their strikes focus on military-related targets.
