Aden Airport Resumes Operations Following Houthi Missile Strike

Aden:Yemen's Aden International Airport has resumed normal operations following a temporary suspension caused by a missile strike attributed to the Houthi group. The strike, which occurred on Wednesday, led Yemeni authorities to halt activities at the airport.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, Transport Minister Mohsen Haidara Al-Omari announced the resumption of operations during a visit to the airport. The Transport Ministry's media office released a statement indicating that airport activities returned to normal on Thursday morning after technical teams conducted urgent repairs on the damaged runway.

Minister Al-Omari condemned the attack on the airport, describing it as a civilian facility serving passengers across Yemen. The shelling, carried out by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia, resulted in injuries to two civilians and damage to the airport. Yemeni authorities reported that two ballistic missiles launched by the Houthis were responsible for the attack.

This incident is part of a broader military escalation in Yemen that began in July, marking a significant increase in hostilities since a truce was announced in April 2022. The "Dawn of Yemen" military operation, initiated on October 5 by forces aligned with Yemen's internationally recognized government, aims to restore state institutions and reclaim the capital, Sanaa, from Houthi control.

Yemen has been engulfed in conflict since the Houthis took over Sanaa and several other provinces in 2014, leading to a Saudi-led coalition's intervention in 2015 to support the internationally recognized government.
