Aerial units working to delineate area in fire stricken Limassol district

Aerial units have been working from morning to delineate the fire in a semi-mountainous area of Limassol, and wherever needed, perform water drops. The fire in Limassol district has burnt an area of 10 square kms since Saturday.

The Spokesperson of the Fire Service, Andreas Kettis, told CNA said that aerial units will be operating throughout the day. At the same time, ground forces from the Forestry Department and the Fire Service continue their work.

Kettis told CNA that the aerial means are working on fire delineation and will address any small blazes if necessary. The issue of re-ignitions is monitored both by cameras and on-site, he added.

Meanwhile, the Coordination Center was visited by Israeli pilots who assist in firefighting efforts, as well as members of Parliament.
