AI Leaders to Convene in Abu Dhabi for Major Expo

Abu Dhabi:The capital of the United Arab Emirates is set to strengthen its status as a global hub for artificial intelligence by hosting the AI Everything Abu Dhabi expo on October 6.

According to Anadolu Agency, the sold-out, two-day event will bring together 400 AI infrastructure builders, model developers, startups, and investors with a total of 91 billion in managed assets. The summit, organized by inD and hosted by the Abu Dhabi Department of Government Enablement (DGE), coincides with global spending on AI projected to reach 2.59 trillion this year, a 47% increase from last year, according to Gartner projections cited by the event organizers.

The event aims to highlight the tangible outcomes of significant AI investments through live demonstrations of industry use cases. Over 180 speakers are scheduled to attend, including Mistral AI co-founder and CEO Arthur Mensch and Boston Dynamics founder Marc Raibert, who will be making his first appearance in the UAE.

Tech giants such as Microsoft, Oracle, Dell, and Intel will participate in the expo. In line with the event, the DGE plans to invest 3.54 billion to transform Abu Dhabi into a model of AI-native government, a first globally. The department has already incorporated over 40 government entities into an AI ecosystem, with 100 AI use cases currently deployed in public services across the emirate.

The UAE's Technology Innovation Institute (TII) will present 23 demonstrations from its nine applied research centers, showcasing innovations across various sectors including energy, marine infrastructure, aerospace, and autonomous systems. The Falcon family of AI large language models, particularly the Falcon-H1 Arabic model, will be a central feature of the summit.

Discussions at the event will also cover the control of AI amidst the rise of autonomous agents and speculative AI policies.
