Paris: European aviation leader Airbus disclosed a downward revision in its commercial aircraft delivery target for the year 2025, adjusting it from the initial forecast of 820 units to 790 units.

According to Anadolu Agency, the adjustment follows a recent supplier quality issue affecting fuselage panels, which has disrupted the delivery flow of the A320 Family aircraft. Despite this change, Airbus has maintained its financial guidance for the current year, with expectations for adjusted earnings before interest and taxes (EBITDA) to approximate £7 billion ($8.15 billion).

The company identified the delivery target adjustment as necessary after detecting a new industrial quality issue within some A320 family aircraft. This discovery came after an urgent software update was requested to address the potential corruption of flight-control data due to intense solar radiation. Airbus subsequently identified a substantial number of A320 Family aircraft in service that could be affected by this issue.

Moreover, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency has responded by issuing an Emergency Airworthiness Directive specifically for the Airbus A320 family. In response to these developments, Airbus confirmed that software updates have been executed on thousands of A320 family aircraft.

In the preceding year, Airbus delivered a total of 766 aircraft to its customers, falling short of its target of 800 units.
