Dobropillya: Two people were killed and 22 injured in an airstrike that targeted the center of Dobropillya, a town in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region, according to local officials. The incident occurred on Wednesday, raising concerns among residents and authorities about the escalating conflict in the area.

According to Anadolu Agency, Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, reported on Facebook that the casualties included two fatalities and 22 injuries as of 8:10 p.m. local time (1710 GMT). Rescue operations were underway to extinguish fires, clear rubble, and verify the number of victims affected by the attack.

Authorities confirmed that the Russian strike resulted in significant damage, affecting 54 commercial outlets, 304 apartments across 13 residential buildings, and eight vehicles. The Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office identified the weapon used as a Russian FAB-500 bomb equipped with a UMPK guidance module.

A pre-trial investigation has been launched on suspicion of a war crime under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This development underscores the severity of the situation and the ongoing tensions in the region.

Earlier reports from state-run Ukrinform news indicated that the 500-kilogram (1,102-pound) bomb struck a store in the town's center. Initial reports mentioned 14 injuries, with fears that more individuals could be trapped under the debris, further complicating rescue efforts.

Dobropillya, situated west of the front-line city of Kostiantynivka, had previously experienced limited direct attacks. However, officials have been warning of an increase in strikes across the Donetsk region, marking a worrying trend in the conflict's expansion.
