Ankara: Airstrikes targeted Houthi positions in the southwestern Yemeni city of Mokha, along the country's western coast and near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait on Friday, according to Yemeni media.

According to Anadolu Agency, coalition airstrikes aimed at the Houthi militia occurred along the western coast and in Bab al-Mandeb. The independent Sama Aden newspaper reported that the Saudi-led Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen was behind these airstrikes. The attacks specifically targeted Houthi positions and gatherings at Mokha port and airport, although the source of the strikes was not identified.

The newspaper, citing local sources, mentioned that the strikes hit locations used by the Houthis to station fighters and assemble military vehicles. Meanwhile, the Houthi-run Saba news agency reported that 'Saudi aircraft' carried out two strikes on Mokha airport, without providing information about casualties or damage.

Saudi Arabia has not immediately commented on the report. Additionally, earlier on Friday, a Yemeni government military source informed Anadolu that the Houthis had seized the strategic Perim Island, also known as Mayyun, as well as the coastal city of Dhubab.
