Jerusalem: Sirens sounded in central and northern Israel on Sunday after missile barrages from Iran and Lebanon as escalation continues to spread across the region. The Israel Hayom daily reported that missiles were detected from Iran, triggering alarms in Jerusalem and several areas across central Israel.

According to Anadolu Agency, a military statement indicated that missiles were intercepted by air defenses in central Israel, though no further details were provided. This barrage marks the 7th wave of missiles fired by Iran toward Israel since midnight.

Sirens also blared out across northern Israel, including Haifa, Acre, and Krayot, following a rocket barrage from Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. Israeli media stated that some of these rockets were intercepted, while others landed in open areas.

The ongoing conflict has seen Israel and the US launching a joint offensive on Iran since February 28, resulting in over 1,340 fatalities, including the then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Tehran launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Iraq, Jordan, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets.

In response to a cross-border attack by Hezbollah on March 2, Israel has conducted airstrikes and a ground offensive in southern Lebanon. Lebanese authorities reported that the Israeli assault has resulted in 1,142 deaths and 3,315 injuries.
