Ankara:According to Anadolu Agency, Amnesty International has accused France of exhibiting a 'double standard' by allowing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's plane to traverse its airspace. This accusation comes in the wake of French President Emmanuel Macron's calls for upholding international law.

Amnesty raised concerns on social media platform X, questioning whether France is contributing to impunity by permitting Netanyahu, who is subject to an International Criminal Court arrest warrant for crimes against humanity, to access its territory. The rights organization pointed out that Macron delivered a speech at the UN General Assembly advocating for international law and justice while France authorized Netanyahu's plane to fly over its airspace that same day for the fifth time.

Amnesty also challenged France's stance on the situation in Gaza. It highlighted Macron's UN statement regarding the international community's inaction on Gaza, querying if France risks complicity in the alleged genocide by continuing military equipment transfers to Israel. Furthermore, Amnesty accused France of inconsistency at the International Court of Justice, citing its collaboration with Gambia on a case involving the Rohingya Muslims but not with South Africa on its Gaza case.

Macron, addressing the UN General Assembly, emphasized the importance of addressing the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, describing the restrictions on aid as 'shameful.' He warned that the Geneva Conventions and international humanitarian law are under threat amid global conflicts, with 'war crimes being industrialized' and a new order of impunity emerging.
