Ankara: The 2023-2024 Trkiye Report that recently passed in the European Parliament has been met with strong criticism from Ankara, which described the report's allegations as distorted, biased, and unfounded.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Turkish Foreign Ministry issued a statement rejecting what it termed as unfounded assessments from an institution it claims supports propaganda grounds for terrorist organizations and groups with anti-Trkiye sentiments. The Ministry criticized the report's depiction of the political dynamics within Turkey, its foreign policy, and the visit of Turkey's President to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

The statement emphasized that the 2023-2024 Trkiye Report, adopted by the European Parliament's Plenary Session, contains what it sees as distorted, prejudiced, and baseless allegations against Turkey. Furthermore, the Foreign Ministry expressed hope that the European Parliament will soon fulfill its responsibilities to maintain Turkey's relations with the European Union, including its EU accession process, on a mutually beneficial basis.
