Apple Expands US Manufacturing Partnerships for New iPhone Models

Accra:Apple announced new and expanded partnerships with US manufacturers to supply key materials and components for its iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro models.

According to Anadolu Agency, the agreements involve Pennsylvania-based titanium producer Perryman Company and Delaware-headquartered Qnity Electronics as part of Apple's American Manufacturing Program. Apple has committed up to $100 million over the next three years with Perryman, which will supply titanium for products including the iPhone Duo, Apple's first foldable iPhone. At least 80% of the titanium used for the device's enclosure will be recycled content.

Additionally, Apple is expanding its collaboration with Qnity Electronics to manufacture advanced films in the US for the iPhone 18 Pro’s variable aperture camera system. This technology in the 48-megapixel Fusion Main camera adjusts the light entering the camera, enhancing image quality in varying lighting conditions.

Almost 100 components for the two iPhone models are produced by American companies, with suppliers operating in over a dozen states. Among Apple's manufacturing partners are Broadcom, Corning, Coherent, TSMC, and Amkor Technology.

By the end of 2026, Corning's Kentucky facility is expected to produce all cover glass for iPhone and Apple Watch models sold globally. TSMC's Arizona factory is set to produce more than 100 million chips for Apple this year.

Apple stated that it collaborates with suppliers across all 50 US states, supporting over 450,000 American jobs. These partnerships are part of a broader four-year, $600 billion commitment to US manufacturing and innovation, aimed at boosting domestic production of advanced materials and critical components.
