Suwayda: Syria's Defense Ministry has accused 'outlaw armed groups' of occupying the main hospital in the southern Suwayda province and using it as a base to target army forces. The ministry claims that snipers have been stationed on the hospital's rooftops to launch attacks on the Syrian army and security forces.

According to Anadolu Agency, the ministry's statement, as reported by state news agency SANA, highlighted that these groups are using the national hospital in Suwayda as a launch point for their operations. The statement further detailed that a significant number of snipers have been targeting security forces heavily from the hospital complex.

The Defense Ministry has asserted that it has repeatedly called for the hospital and its surrounding area to be neutralized to allow medical and emergency teams access, but these requests have gone unanswered. The ministry holds the armed groups and their backers fully responsible for the ongoing situation at the national hospital in Suwayda.

This accusation follows the announcement of a full ceasefire in Suwayda on Tuesday evening, after army and security forces entered the city center in an effort to restore stability. The ceasefire comes after clashes erupted on Sunday between armed Druze militias and Bedouin groups in Suwayda, reportedly over the seizure of vehicles by each side.

Syria's Interior Ministry has reported that more than 30 people have been killed and nearly 100 others injured in the violence. Meanwhile, the Israeli army claims that the operations in the area are intended to protect the Druze minority.
