Armed Man Impersonating Police Arrested at State Farm Stadium Before Charlie Kirk Memorial

Phoenix: An armed man has been arrested at State Farm Stadium in Arizona, where a memorial for conservative activist Charlie Kirk is planned for Sunday, after allegedly posing as a police officer, according to officials.

According to Anadolu Agency, Joshua Runkles, 42, was taken into custody by the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) and charged with carrying a weapon into a prohibited place and impersonating law enforcement. The arrest followed Runkles exhibiting 'suspicious behavior' at the venue. DPS confirmed that Runkles is not a law enforcement officer and an investigation is ongoing to ascertain his intent and purpose at the stadium. Runkles has since been released on bond, as stated by DPS.

The US Secret Service, in a statement to ABC News, noted that agents confronted an 'individual who was observed exhibiting suspicious behavior' and falsely claiming to be armed law enforcement. The agency is collaborating with local authorities to understand the suspect's presence at the venue.
