Tbilisi: Armenia has expressed its approval of Azerbaijan's recent decision to remove restrictions on the transit of goods from Azerbaijan to Armenia. The Armenian Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan, described this move as a crucial advancement towards fostering regional peace and cooperation. This announcement was highlighted during Pashinyan's address at the 5th Silk Road International Forum held in Tbilisi, Georgia.

According to Anadolu Agency, Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev's decision to lift these transit restrictions is seen as a direct consequence of the peace declaration signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan in August in Washington, DC. This declaration emphasized the necessity of opening transport routes between the two nations, focusing on mutual respect for each country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Pashinyan highlighted the practical outcomes of this decision, noting the commencement of grain imports to Armenia from Kazakhstan through Azerbaijan and Georgia. He reiterated the August declaration's commitment to enhancing communication channels for domestic, bilateral, and international transport, aiming to bolster stability, peace, and prosperity in the region.

At the event, Pashinyan also expressed his gratitude to Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze for hosting the Silk Road forum, marking his second attendance. Reflecting on his previous participation in 2023, he mentioned the presentation of Armenia's "Crossroads of Peace" project, which garnered significant international support. Additionally, he conveyed appreciation to the leaders of Kazakhstan and Georgia for their role in facilitating trade between the nations.
