Al-debba: Around 57,000 displaced people have arrived in the Sudanese city of Al-Debba in Northern State after fleeing attacks by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the Darfur and Kordofan regions, an aid commission reported on Friday. These individuals have been forced out of their homes due to escalating violence in their regions.

According to Anadolu Agency, Kawther Jaafar, the government-appointed humanitarian aid commissioner in Al-Debba, reported that the displaced faced severe conditions during their escape from the RSF's aggressive actions. Many of the displaced are arriving with wounds and fractures, and there are significant numbers of children suffering from malnutrition.

Of the displaced, 50,000 originated from the city of El-Fasher, with 32,000 reaching Al-Debba after the RSF took control of the city, Jaafar noted. This influx is part of a larger crisis stemming from a bloody conflict between the Sudanese army and the RSF, which has been ongoing since April 2023. The conflict has resulted in thousands of deaths and has displaced millions.

Last month, the RSF seized control of North Darfur's capital, El-Fasher, and has been accused of committing massacres in the area. The RSF currently controls all five of Darfur's states, while the Sudanese army holds most of the remaining 13 states, including the capital, Khartoum.
