London: Arsenal have reached an agreement with Aston Villa to sign English defender Ezri Konsa, according to media reports on Wednesday. British media reported that the deal is worth around £50 million ($68 million), with possible add-ons.
According to Anadolu Agency, Konsa is expected to have a medical check before completing the move. The reigning Premier League champions sought defensive reinforcements after injuries to center-back William Saliba and right-back Jurrien Timber.
The 28-year-old, who can play both as a center-back and right-back, was under contract with Villa until 2028. Konsa made significant contributions to the England national team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, earning eight caps as the Three Lions secured a third-place finish.
Konsa's journey with Aston Villa began in 2019 when he transferred from Brentford. He quickly secured his spot as a mainstay in the team under the management of Unai Emery. His anticipated move to Arsenal signifies another step in Villa's ongoing summer overhaul, following the departures of Morgan Rogers to Chelsea, Youri Tielemans to Manchester United, and Lucas Digne to Paris Saint-Germain.
