Sydney: Australia on Monday reiterated its call for citizens to exit Iran "if it is safe to do so," as a ceasefire between Tehran and Israel continues to hold. The Australian Foreign Ministry emphasized this in a recent update shared on X, highlighting the operational status of international airports in eastern Iran, including Mashhad, and noting the availability of limited departure options.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Australian government is actively securing a limited number of seats on commercial flights departing from Iran for those needing assistance. The ministry cautioned that airport operations are subject to rapid changes, and they are closely monitoring the evolving situation. Last week, Canberra acknowledged the fluid nature of regional developments, stating that although a ceasefire is currently in place, there remains a significant risk of further military conflict and the possibility of a deteriorating security environment with little warning.

The conflict between Israel and Iran began on June 13, following Israeli airstrikes on Iranian military and nuclear sites, which led to retaliatory actions from Iran. The United States entered the conflict, targeting Iran's Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear facilities. The 12-day conflict was brought to a halt through a US-sponsored ceasefire, which was implemented on June 24.
