Baku: Azerbaijan will not permit its territory to be used by any nation to target a third party, including its neighbor Iran, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated during a phone call with his Iranian counterpart Seyyed Abbas Araghchi.

According to Anadolu Agency, Bayramov expressed Baku's concern over escalating regional tensions and the current situation surrounding nuclear facilities. He emphasized the necessity of resolving existing issues through dialogue and diplomatic channels, adhering to international law's norms and principles, as per a statement from the Foreign Ministry.

The statement also noted that, with Iran's airspace being closed, arrangements have been made for representatives from various countries and Iran to transit through Azerbaijan's land border. The ministers discussed the situation that arose following Israel's attacks on Iranian territory, with Araghchi providing details on Tel Aviv's actions and Tehran's responses.

The statement highlighted the risk of the conflict expanding regionally and reiterated the importance of restoring diplomatic efforts. The phone conversation also covered other mutual interests, and Bayramov offered condolences for the deaths of the chief of staff of Iran's armed forces, other officials, and Iranian citizens.
