Baku: Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met with former Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko in Baku. The meeting, which took place on Monday, highlighted the longstanding relationship between the two leaders, whose acquaintance spans over two decades.

According to Anadolu Agency, both Aliyev and Yushchenko reminisced about their past cooperation efforts aimed at strengthening the ties between Azerbaijan and Ukraine. They also exchanged views on future developments in their bilateral relations. Aliyev shared on the US social media platform X about their discussion, stating, "We shared fond memories, recalled our joint efforts to strengthen Azerbaijan-Ukraine relations, and exchanged views on the future prospects of our ties."

During the meeting, Ukrainian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Yuriy Husyev presented President Aliyev with a certificate naming him an Honorary Citizen of the Ukrainian city of Irpin. This gesture was made public by the Azerbaijani president's office. Yushchenko, who held the presidency in Ukraine from 2005 to 2010, had arrived in Baku a day earlier on Sunday.
