Baku: Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that Europe's energy security is 'impossible' to imagine without the involvement of Baku and neighboring Georgia. This statement was made during a joint press conference with Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili in Baku.

According to Anadolu Agency, Aliyev emphasized Azerbaijan's role in exporting natural gas to 12 countries, including through Georgia. He highlighted the significance of joint investment projects between Azerbaijan and Georgia, which are pivotal for the broader region. These projects, he noted, are reshaping the transport and energy landscape of the South Caucasus and the Eurasian region.

Aliyev underscored the achievements in transport and communications, including new railways and ports, which have created significant synergy between Azerbaijan and Georgia. These developments are integral to the Middle Corridor, also known as the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. This network connects Trkiye, Georgia, Azerbaijan, the Caspian Sea, Central Asia, and China, aiming to revive the historic Silk Road.

The Azerbaijani leader pointed out the increasing volume of cargo traversing their territories and mentioned ongoing efforts to boost this capacity. He also stressed the importance of peace and security in the South Caucasus, expressing hope for the end of conflicts in the region.

Georgian President Kavelashvili echoed Aliyev's sentiments, expressing confidence that the ties between Georgia and Azerbaijan will strengthen further. He emphasized the importance of cooperation for regional and global challenges, advocating for lasting peace and stability to enhance the South Caucasus's competitiveness and reliability.

Kavelashvili also affirmed the mutual support for sovereignty and territorial integrity between Georgia and Azerbaijan. He welcomed the recent consensus between Baku and Yerevan on a peace agreement, expressing optimism for a historic agreement that ensures long-term peace in the region.
