Ankara: The 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix is set to take place at Malaysia's Sepang International Circuit under a unique agreement designed to keep the race on the championship calendar, as confirmed by two racing bodies on Sunday. Scheduled for October 2-4, the event falls between the Azerbaijan and Singapore Grands Prix, as announced by Formula 1 and the FIA in a joint statement.

According to Anadolu Agency, the event will be officially titled the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, pending final agreements and official sign-off, including approval from the World Motor Sport Council. This arrangement ensures the Bahrain Grand Prix takes place in 2026, with the rest of the season calendar remaining unchanged.

The agreement was finalized between Formula 1, the FIA, the Government of Bahrain, and the Government of Malaysia. This move allows Formula 1 to maintain a Grand Prix that might have otherwise been canceled. Details on ticket sales will be provided at a future date.

The decision comes amid regional security tensions affecting Bahrain. In recent weeks, the Gulf kingdom has been targeted by drone and missile strikes from Iran, amid exchanges of fire between Tehran and Washington.
