Manama: Bahrain announced that its air defenses have successfully intercepted and destroyed 125 missiles and 211 drones originating from Iran since February 28. This action comes amid increasing hostilities in the region.

According to Anadolu Agency, the General Command of the Bahrain Defense Force released a statement detailing how the country's air defenses have handled 'successive waves of Iranian attacks' targeting Bahrain. The statement emphasized the high level of combat readiness and operational vigilance maintained by Bahraini forces to protect the nation's airspace and address potential threats.

The General Command has advised residents to remain cautious, avoid damaged areas and 'suspicious objects,' and refrain from filming military activities or debris sites. The statement further highlighted that the targeting of civilian facilities and private property with ballistic missiles and drones is a violation of international humanitarian law and the United Nations Charter, posing a direct threat to regional peace and security.

The tensions have been escalating since February 28, following joint attacks by Israel and the US on Iran. These attacks resulted in approximately 1,200 casualties, including the death of then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Iran has conducted drone and missile strikes against Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and other Gulf countries hosting US military assets.
