Bahrain, Kuwait Intercept Iranian Aerial Attacks Amid Escalating Regional Tensions

Bahrain: Bahrain and Kuwait said their air defenses intercepted Iranian aerial attacks early Wednesday amid renewed regional tensions.

According to Anadolu Agency, Kuwait's armed forces reported the detection of two hostile ballistic missiles and 13 hostile drones entering the country's airspace at dawn. The military successfully intercepted the missiles and drones, resulting in no material damage or casualties.

Kuwait's military emphasized its readiness to protect the country's security and the safety of its citizens and residents. In Bahrain, state television confirmed the interception and destruction of Iranian aerial attacks over Bahraini airspace. However, the broadcaster did not provide immediate details on the type or number of projectiles or drones involved. Sirens sounded across Bahrain for the third time in several hours, prompting the Interior Ministry to urge citizens and residents to remain calm and seek safe locations. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.

The incidents occurred after Iran's military warned that US bases across the region would become "legitimate targets" if Washington continued violating a ceasefire agreement. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for launching a missile and drone operation targeting 85 US military sites, including Salman Port in Bahrain and Ali Al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait, as reported by the semi-official Tasnim news agency.

In response, the US military announced a new wave of strikes against Iran, targeting more than 80 sites in reaction to Iranian attacks on commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that the strikes were conducted 'in immediate response to Iranian attacks on commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.'
