Manama: Bahrain's military announced that its air defense systems successfully destroyed 75 Iranian missiles and 123 drones targeting the Gulf nation amidst ongoing regional tensions. The attacks were reportedly in retaliation for a US-Israeli offensive.

According to Anadolu Agency, the General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force issued a statement highlighting the continuous efforts of its air defense systems to counter successive waves of Iranian attacks. The military urged residents to remain indoors and venture out only when absolutely necessary, while practicing maximum caution for their safety.

Authorities further advised the public to avoid damaged areas and suspicious objects, and to refrain from filming military operations or photographing locations where debris has fallen. The statement did not specify whether any missile or debris from the interceptions landed in Bahrain or caused damage.

The military emphasized that targeting civilian sites and private property with ballistic missiles and drones constitutes a violation of international humanitarian law and the United Nations Charter. It also warned that the indiscriminate Iranian attacks pose a threat to regional peace and security.

Iran's missile and drone launches have been directed at Israel and Gulf countries housing US military assets since February 28. Some attacks have resulted in casualties and damage to civilian sites, including ports and residential buildings. Tehran claims these actions are in response to a US-Israeli military campaign against Iran, which has resulted in the deaths of hundreds, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and top military officials.
