Manama: Bahrain has taken the strategic decision to relocate several passenger and cargo aircraft from Bahrain International Airport to other airports. This move is part of a series of measures designed to boost operational readiness in response to escalating regional tensions, according to authorities.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Civil Aviation Affairs at the Bahrain Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications confirmed the relocation of aircraft belonging to Gulf Air, alongside several cargo planes. These actions were part of approved operational arrangements aimed at enhancing preparedness and ensuring the smooth continuation of air operations.

The Civil Aviation Affairs noted that the aircraft relocated from Bahrain International Airport were not carrying passengers or cargo. The relocation was carried out in coordination with airlines and cargo operators. The measures are intended to strengthen operational preparedness and ensure continuity of air operations, aligning with the highest standards of safety and security.

The authority emphasized that these actions are part of ongoing coordination with relevant authorities and airlines. This coordination is crucial for maintaining the continuity of air operations and supporting airlines’ future operational plans, in line with the requirements of the upcoming phase.

The backdrop to these measures is a regional escalation following a joint attack by Israel and the US against Iran on February 28, which resulted in significant casualties and injuries. In response, Tehran launched drone and missile strikes targeting several countries, including those in the Gulf region, leading to the closure of multiple airspaces.
