RIYADH: The second edition of Banan, Saudi Arabia's International Handcrafts Week, is currently taking place in the capital city of Riyadh. The event features participation from over 500 artisans representing 25 countries. It is set to continue until November 29 at Roshn Front, a notable business and leisure development located in the northern Sedra district. According to Anadolu Agency, the Banan exhibition highlights Saudi Arabia's commitment to preserving traditional craftsmanship and encouraging cross-cultural exchanges. Artisans from countries such as China, Greece, Mexico, Oman, and Jordan are part of the exhibition, showcasing cultural crafts that include textiles, pottery, metalwork, and woodcarving. The Royal Institute of Traditional Arts, recognized as Saudi Arabia's leading institution for preserving and teaching traditional arts and crafts, is conducting workshops on local crafts, including Sadu weaving. The exhibition supports Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to establish the nation as a cultural hub and generate economic opportunities for artisans.
