Belarus Advises Citizens Against Nonessential Travel to Six European Countries Amid Protests

Minsk:Belarus has issued a travel advisory urging its citizens to avoid nonessential travel to six European countries due to ongoing protests related to pensions, housing, education, and corruption. The countries affected by the advisory include France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Albania.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry highlighted a significant deterioration in the political situation in these countries. This includes mass demonstrations and reports of disproportionate use of force by law enforcement, along with instances of arbitrary detentions.

The ministry warned that the imposition of curfews and states of emergency in the affected countries could lead to disruptions in public transportation, internet access, and communications. Belarusian citizens currently in these countries have been advised to remain vigilant, avoid large crowds and protest areas, and stay informed through updates from local authorities and Belarusian diplomatic missions.

Additionally, the ministry recommended that citizens leave the countries using available commercial routes if conditions worsen. It also noted the potential difficulty in accessing consular and legal assistance due to limited staff at Belarusian diplomatic missions in these regions. Citizens are advised to save emergency contact details of these missions in advance.
