Minsk: Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on Tuesday expressed his support for US President Donald Trump's initiatives aimed at resolving the Gaza conflict, which have resulted in a ceasefire, the return of hostages, and plans for reconstruction in the Palestinian territory damaged by Israel. Lukashenko praised these efforts during a meeting with government officials, emphasizing their potential to lead to the establishment of a unified Palestinian state, including the Gaza Strip, that would allow its residents to live normal lives.

According to Anadolu Agency, Lukashenko acknowledged the Trump administration's influence on the rapid changes in international relations, suggesting it deserves recognition. He remarked on the absence of a Nobel Peace Prize for Trump despite his efforts, noting that there are promises of potential recognition next year and advised Trump not to be overly concerned about the omission.

Discussing US-Belarus relations, Lukashenko stressed the importance of creating a framework that maintains existing alliances, particularly with Russia and China, and upholds commitments to partners in Eurasian integration. He emphasized that these relationships must remain unaffected by new developments.

Lukashenko also highlighted the US acknowledgment of Belarus's role in facilitating a peaceful settlement in Ukraine, citing its strategic position as Russia's closest ally and its capabilities in contributing to regional security. Recently, 52 political prisoners were released from Belarusian jails in a move linked to US sanctions relief, underscoring ongoing diplomatic engagements between the two nations.
