Ankara:Ukraine reached an agreement with Belgium to receive three F-16 fighter jets by the end of the year, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced.
According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy shared on the social media platform X that Belgium, along with other countries such as Spain, has already provided urgent deliveries of F-16s ammunition. He emphasized the need for enhanced capabilities to shoot down aerial targets to protect people amidst Russia's daily escalations, expressing gratitude to Belgium's prime minister and government for their support.
Zelenskyy also mentioned holding separate meetings in Ukraine with Danish parliament speaker Soren Gade and EBRD President Odile Renaud to discuss defense and energy support. He thanked Gade for Denmark's strong support and highlighted the importance of financial contributions to Ukraine's defense, particularly air defenses against drones and ballistic missiles. He noted opportunities for Ukraine and Denmark to strengthen shared security through the European SAFE instrument.
In his discussion with Renaud, Zelenskyy expressed appreciation for the EBRD's assistance in enhancing Ukraine's electricity generation, which has been targeted by Russian strikes. They talked about the energy sector, logistics, and data centers, and explored ways to attract investment and sustain exports. Zelenskyy highlighted the potential for the EBRD to provide financial and infrastructure support to rebuild facilities damaged by Russian attacks and strengthen Ukraine's economy, noting the impact of constant strikes on global food supplies.
