Washington: Billionaire Elon Musk on Tuesday intensified his opposition to US President Donald Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill," promising to establish a new political party if the controversial omnibus bill gains approval from Congress. Musk expressed his concerns over the bill's provisions, particularly criticizing its increase of the debt ceiling by five trillion dollars, which he believes contributes to a one-party governance in the country.

According to Anadolu Agency, Musk conveyed his discontent through a series of posts on the social media platform X. He described the current political landscape as dominated by what he called the "PORKY PIG PARTY," and emphasized the need for a new political entity that genuinely represents the interests of the people. Musk assured his followers that if the bill passes, he will launch "the America Party" the following day, positioning it as an alternative to the existing Republican and Democratic parties.

Musk also criticized politicians who had campaigned on reducing government spending but now support the controversial bill, suggesting they should feel ashamed and predicting they would face repercussions in the upcoming campaign primaries.

The relationship between President Trump and Musk, once characterized by mutual support and collaboration, has soured significantly since Musk began publicly criticizing the bill in late May. This tension has escalated into a public dispute, with Musk now advocating for a new political movement.

Last month, Musk had already broached the idea of creating a new political party, engaging with his 220 million followers on X by questioning if it was time for a party that truly represents the majority in the middle of the political spectrum. Subsequently, Musk endorsed a suggestion to name this new entity the "America Party," a nod to the America PAC he launched last year, which invested $239 million in support of Trump and other Republican candidates in the 2024 elections.
