Body of Ukrainian Woman Wanted by Interpol for Monaco Assassination Attempt Found Near Kyiv

Kyiv: Ukrainian authorities announced on Tuesday the discovery of the body of Anastasia Berezovska, a Ukrainian woman sought by Interpol in relation to the attempted assassination of businessman Vadym Yermolaiev in Monaco. An officer from Ukraine's military intelligence has admitted to her murder.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Office of the Prosecutor General revealed that Berezovska, aged 39, was found deceased near Kyiv. She had reportedly entered Ukraine on July 1, and had been in communication with family members, a former law enforcement officer, and a serving officer of Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR).

Authorities disclosed that these individuals facilitated money transfers to Berezovska through both cryptocurrency and bank accounts. The SBU and prosecutors stated that the HUR officer confessed during the investigation to murdering Berezovska alongside another accomplice. Both suspects are now detained under suspicion of murder committed by a group with prior conspiracy.

The intelligence officer reportedly failed to disclose his interactions with Berezovska, the financial transactions, or any related activities to his superiors, acting independently instead. The HUR has not issued a public statement regarding the case.

Interpol had previously issued a notice for Berezovska concerning the attempted assassination of Vadym Yermolaiev in Monaco, where an explosion on June 30 injured three individuals, including Yermolaiev, who is currently subject to Ukrainian sanctions.
